Yippee!!
Our blanket is finally finished, and ready to give to charity.
22 knitters from the Knitting Help Forum each took turns knitting a section of our blanket. It was mailed from house to house, all over the US and Canada. Each knitter added their own yarn, and chose a stitch design that felt right to them. Now, our blanket is complete and beautiful!
We are giving our blanket to the Pine Ridge Reservation, the poorest spot in the US. The average life expectancy for residents is only 47 for males and early 50s for women. The unemployment rate is 90% and the teen suicide rate is four times the national average. Basics such as running water, heat and food are scarce for many residents let alone jobs and health care.
We have heard that they really appreciate handmade blankets, so we know this is the right place for our blanket to go.
God speed, Oddball Blanket!
